His Legacy. Our Mission.
For over 50+ years Bob served as a teacher, mentor, coach, and colleague to students and staff at Leavenworth High School. His passion went far beyond the classroom walls and touched thousands upon thousands of community members in Leavenworth and Lansing. He served the City of Leavenworth in many other roles, once leading the football team and families to a sand bagging effort to save the Leavenworth Community Center from a rising Missouri River flood.
Many people in the area have a story about Bob because he made a difference. Because he knew it took a community to achieve greatness. No one does it alone.
Our mission is simple - to continue his honorable approach to support the educational ideas, passions, and character development in our kids - in our community that he loved. Our commitment is a promise to support the excellence, dedication, and impact our educators and students make every day.
Together, we can continue Coach Hart's 50+ years of service to our community by supporting teachers, and the educational and character development of our students.
So we ask with passionate conviction - Will you to become a NED today!
What is a NED?
One student recalls -
"Bob Hart was a different kind of science teacher - very personable - with just a kind, easygoing smile. I recall that he was very patient and approachable - graceful, charming and witty. He called us all "Ned" or he'd say "You, Ned." The first time he said it to me I was confused - I did not know what a "Ned" was. I went looking for a definition - thought it was pejorative - something like being called a "Nerd." Or perhaps it was an acronym? Nope...just an endearing term he used equally amongst us all. I'll never forget you Bob."
